What are the consequences of not having good communication skills?
Posted by admin | Under communication skills Tuesday Oct 27, 2009I need to write an essay on communication skills. I need help with consequences of not having the skill. I know some, but to me it is hard to get a 750 word essay by what I think. Please help me.
I teach communications in a University and will list some to give you ideas:
Bad Listening: embarassment, relationship problems, bad job skills, and hinders learning
Bad communication (oral):
Not being able to express yourself well
Poor public speaking skills
Lack of leadership/management opportunities
Losing money from not getting jobs (interviews) or promoted
Cause relationship problems
People aren’t mind readers so you have to commuicate
Must have good eye contact with those you speak with
Must have good nonverbals like hand gestures, pitch. volume
Nothing. Just look at Bush, he has no communication skills and he became President. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

One is that people will think you are not very intelligent, or at least not very well educated if you do not have good communication skills, so it could make it harder to get a good job.

Do a search using "poor communication skills." It’s late or I would do it for you. There is some good information on the web that will help you. Remember to talk about communication in various areas: marriage, business, education, friendships, internet (websites). Not just person to person, but what effect it has when communication skills are poor because of language barriers, poor cognitive skills, not understanding particular lingo (like, law has its own language, medicine has its own language, architect has its own language, and so forth.)
